Tripod mounting screws for attaching a head are standardized as 1/4 inch (small screw) or 3/8 inch (large screw). Most manufacturers include a bushing adapter or allow screw replacement so that both sizes are supported. If your tripod only supports a 1/4 inch screw, you can attach the head by purchasing a bushing adapter separately.

*1 The Q20i-NQS and Q10i-NQS models do not include a quick shoe.

However, even among Arca-Swiss compatible plates, the width may vary slightly by manufacturer. When using a lever-type quick shoe, we recommend using plates from the same manufacturer. For example, if you attach a third-party plate to a lever-type quick shoe, the lever may feel too tight or too loose. In such cases, the clamping force adjustment screw must be adjusted. Although this adjustment only needs to be done once, you will need to readjust it when switching back to a Markins plate. To avoid this inconvenience, we recommend using a knob-type quick shoe or standardizing your plates to the same manufacturer.
*2 Compatibility has been confirmed with plates from Arca-Swiss, KIRK, RRS, and Wimberley. Compatibility with other brands has not been confirmed.

The load capacity of Markins is measured by applying a load at a point 5 cm away from the center of the Ball head and determining how much load it can withstand.
In general, if a camera is mounted vertically above the Ball head with its center of gravity aligned with the center, the Ball head can support even very heavy equipment as long as neither the Ball head nor tripod fails. However, when the camera is tilted upward or downward, the center of gravity shifts away from the center, increasing the load according to the distance of that shift. Therefore, using a point offset from the center as the reference provides a more realistic measurement standard. For this reason, Markins uses a point 5 cm away from the center as its measurement standard.
※For an easy-to-understand explanation of the load capacity of Markins Ball heads, please refer to the article published in the Korean edition of Digital Camera Magazine, June 2007 issue. → Read the article

i-Type models allow removal with a hex wrench. However, models released before the i-Type use a special mounting method to firmly secure the quick shoe, so customers cannot remove it themselves. If replacement is necessary, please contact us and we will assist you.
We also receive inquiries about attaching third-party quick shoes to Markins Ball heads, but we must decline such requests in accordance with the manufacturer's policy.

For Ball head repairs, please provide the serial number engraved on the base when contacting us. If purchased through an authorized dealer or Amazon, we may request a receipt or other proof of purchase showing the purchase date.

We keep complete shipment records and will respond promptly.
